On Wednesday class we have so much fun
learning about culture, communication, and communication between groups,
leadership, effective meetings, and many other topics. It was interesting to
observe how each of my classmates has a unique way of presenting the material
which makes it easier to understand the concepts of each topic. During the
presentation, many of us were nervous because is our first time presenting in a
long time, I think the last presentation I did was last year in my psychology
class. I am glad that we did this presentation because is helping me in
different ways; I am more open to talk with my classmates; also, it is helping
improve my presentation skills. I learned new vocabulary words as well.

Now referring to the topics in Chapter three we learn how communication varies between different cultures and the importance of learning their communication skills because this can be vital in work or class environment. Culture has a deeper definition; culture is not only the share of beliefs which is the most common definition that we all have. Culture includes values, attitudes, norms, time, rules, beliefs, and knowledge shared in a group of individuals. Living in big cities like Miami, Los Angeles, or New York we can see how different individuals interact among different cultures. It is always a cultural shock at the beginning but most of us have the capability of learning how to adapt or at least respect their culture.

Chapter ten is about leadership; being a leader is not a one person role is a group effort to be efficient as a group all of the individuals need to participate and integrate with each other that’s how you form a leadership. The dynamic of the group members will reflect on the leadership and presentation of the group. Different tools that I found interesting to follow are being committed to the group goal, track the discussions, be prepared and helpful to the group, encourage each other and learn how to manage conflict.
Chapter
nine was about how groups are formed and how we can learn how to communicate effectively
between each other. A group can be formed by three or 20 members. If a groups wants
to be efficient they communicate to each other properly, they manage their time
and job equally. It is always best to
establish rule and norms to each member in order to have a good outcome. It is important
to have respect to each member; and always put apart the personal relationship
created between individuals because sometimes this can created an unequally
between the group members and this create problems.
Overall,
it is very important to learn how to communicate properly because this is a
major tool in our daily basis. Communicating goes beyond talking, writing a
letter or email. It is the meaning, the knowledge, the expression we put through
this process; that’s why we need to gain more knowledge in different aspects to
be able to communicate properly with different individuals.

This is a wonderful post! I certainly agree that communication is one of our tools for a good life.
