Thoughts on Presentations

In my Speech class for Summer 2021, we were all divided into three groups and were supposed to present a certain chapter; I was in group 1 and in charge of Chapter 3. Before even presenting the chapter to our Speech class I was already nervous and stressed. I had a lot of responsibility being the group leader, I was in charge of giving instructions and answering many questions, that I did not know and made me a bit stressed. I was also afraid that my classmates were not going to do their work and I was going to look bad in front of the professor, however, I was more than surprised; when I checked the PowerPoint and saw that everyone did their respective part, I was very happy and content that I got them to work with. After that, was the anxiety about the presentation and hoping that everything went as planned.

Chapter 3 was Intercultural Communication in which I learned a lot while doing my part of the work. Communication is something that we do in our everyday life with many people from different cultures. I liked the way my group members did their respective slides, they had a lot of pictures and videos that gave presence and important information. Only one person was not able to present which was a bit frustrating because my presentation did not go as planned. We were not able to play all of our videos because of lack of time but the ones we did see I liked very much. After that, we were just hoping that the professor liked our presentation.

Chapter 9 was "Communicating in Groups" and the presentation gave me very professional vibes. The minimalistic black, white, and grey colors look great in my opinion. I prefer very bright and fruity colors but those do not always match the theme of what we are doing. Group two PowerPoint had a lot of information in it, and the pictures match with what they are talking about. They did not show any videos which is okay, but it would have been nice, especially for the visual learners. Most people from group 2 sounded very confident and like they knew what they were talking about.

Chapter 10 was about "Group Leadership and Problem Solving." Group 3 is for the most part my favorite presentation (Besides mine of course) I think that I'm a bit bias because I like this chapter a lot. I want to be an entrepreneur and group leadership and problem-solving is something I must have. Every slide was very educational and without reading the entire chapter I feel like I learned a lot. Besides that, the PowerPoint looked very neat and clean; is very nice to look at.

Overall I think we all did great with the presentations. Every group did a great job explaining their chapter and visuals were not an issue. Chapters 3, 9, and 10 were well explained and I have a feeling that everyone understood well each chapter.
